Tea in the Garden

Tea in the Garden

Late last night I had tea with a young woman called Dorry. She suggested we enjoy the hot beverage in the garden overlooking Vairostai City, I agreed. It’s special tea, she told me smiling. I had no idea what she meant at the time, I do now! The warm fluid did not taste like any tea I had ever had before. It was bland with a faint sweet edge to it. She watched me drink it, which I found peculiar. Then a strange thing happened, which did not happen, yet I heard it. I heard mushrooms grow out of her skin, tiny mushrooms all over her. Like the sound of bubbling wells they grew. Then, as they stopped growing, colours erupted from them and flew down to the city. I could see them melodiously, I saw the low humming and the high pitched whine and they all looked marvelous. A weight of delight descended into my body and sat in me like a thick blanket. There was a voice, I saw it, I saw the voice of many words. The voice of near infinite words bubbled numbers into my brain and I understood it. Then the many words dispersed and fled into the streets of Vairostai, seeking refuge behind soft latches. These visions played in my mind for several hours. I felt utterly alone with them as Dorry held my hand and giggled with her own glee. Many things I saw, heard, felt and knew. Not many I can remember now. When I awoke there was no Dorry and I was in my locked room. I have no recollection of arriving, only of waking up. I must find Dorry again some time, she may help me forget my true love, Zara. The tea may take me to Zara on time. Who knows.
