A day in my life
A day in my life
There was a child playing with Three-leg this morning. I sat in the shade watching it - I could not tell if it was a girl or boy - attempting to balance a pebble on the dog’s head. The animal would not hold its head still for the child and kept trying to lick the poor child in the face. There was a lot of giggling going on, which brought a smile to my face.
In the afternoon I went down into the city to fetch some things I needed. While I was there I visited the barber next to the temple. While sitting rigid as a plank in his barber’s chair I was obliged to listen to all the latest gossip and news. I couldn’t tell which was which. Apparently the story about the poor dead man in the river had reached right into the city. Latches had been installed on every door, and some had more, not just one; so the barber said.
I passed the priest of The Emergent on the way home. We chatted for a bit. He had many wise words to say about death and how the Emergent lives forever undisturbed. I can’t say it made much sense, yet it sounded attractive for the very fact that one could give whatever interpretation one liked. It occupied my thinking all the way up the hill.
